Comment-to-DM examples for a useful, specific offer

Practical caption and DM examples for educators, service creators and small businesses, with a checklist before launch.

Name what arrives in the DM

“Comment below” gives the reader no reason to act. Name a useful resource and the problem it solves: a preparation list, an exercise sheet or a menu. Finish the resource before recording the Reel so the promise matches what you can deliver.

Keep the keyword easy to read and type. A caption, on-screen instruction and spoken call to action should use the same word. Avoid collecting unrelated comments just to increase the count; the request should lead to something the reader actually wants.

Make the first message explain the button

The first DM is a continuation of the post. A person who asked for exercises should not have to decode an unrelated sales pitch. Say which resource is waiting and what tapping the action button will do.

Use the delivery message for a short orientation: where to start, what to prepare or how to use the code. Avoid inserting extra requirements after the person has already requested the resource.

Example for a language teacher
  1. Post

Comment PRACTICE for five exercises from today's lesson.

  2. Welcome DM

Ready to try the exercises? Tap Get exercises and I'll send the worksheet.

  3. Delivery DM

Start with exercise one, then check the answer key on the final page.

Match how people actually respond

Decide whether your keyword must match the whole message or can appear inside a longer phrase. Test “PRACTICE” and “I'd like the practice sheet” against the mode you chose. A phrase you think is obvious may not match the saved rule.

Give separate resources distinct keywords. Before reusing a word, inspect other active automations and any previous provider still connected. Two services answering the same comment can confuse the recipient even when both messages are well written.

Do one complete rehearsal

Ask a consenting person to leave a new comment, tap the welcome action and open the resource. Previewing the editor does not confirm Instagram delivery. Check the phone layout and any file-access permissions too.

Once it works, keep a copy of the final caption beside the saved automation text. When the menu, lesson or event changes, update both. Judge the experiment by completed requests and useful conversations, not just a larger comment count.

  • The resource exists and matches the promise.
  • Keyword and matching mode are tested.
  • Any conditions are disclosed before the request.
  • Another account can finish the full flow.
